Construction cranesSometimes a copy edit isn’t enough. If your manuscript needs structural work — whether that’s tightening the plot, strengthening character arcs, or reshaping scenes — developmental editing gives your story the tough love it needs.

What I’ll do for you:

  • Assess your overall plot and pacing

  • Identify what to trim (and what to expand)

  • Reorder or refine scenes for maximum impact

  • Help your characters’ voices ring true

Unlike copy editing, developmental editing focuses less on word-by-word polish and more on the story itself. You’ll see plenty of margin notes and feedback, guiding you through revisions with clarity and direction.

How it works:

  1. I read and map out your manuscript for a bird’s-eye view of your story.

  2. We meet (by phone, chat, or video) to discuss your goals and my findings.

  3. Together, we work through your story section by section to ensure everything fits seamlessly.

  4. You’ll have three additional meetings for continued support.

  5. Once revisions are complete, your project gets a final copy edit — the finishing touch after all that new writing.

Investment: $2,500 for 80,000 words (or $0.031 per word).
